would it be and why?

Reese Witherspoon, I’m not sure why, I have loved her since I was little. She’s my idol!

It is a lazy Sunday, how would you spend your day?

Lying by the cozy fire with my family watching movies all day!

What is the funniest comment you have heard from a child

while working for SMS?

Kids always ask me about my children, I’m not sure what makes them think I have children! Also, one little girl used to always ask me to play with her friend that was invisible. She had a very creative mind!

When you were a kid growing up, what did you want to be?

As a child, I wanted to be a teacher! I would make my older sister sit at a desk and I would give her homework to do!!

If you were stranded on a desert island, and could pick three

items, what would they be?

My best friend, bathing suit, and some running shoes! All I would do is run along the beach and go swimming! Sounds perfect to me J

What is the funniest memory from your childhood babysitter?

The one thing that sticks out to me is when my grandpa babysat me! Usually my babysitter was a sibling or family member. One day before bedtime my grandpa saw a container of cookies on top of the refrigerator. He grabbed some cookies and put them in his mouth. Little did he know that it was a jar of cat food that we kept in the cookie container!! I think I laughed myself to sleep!

What has been your most memorable experience while

working with SMS?

I love meeting new families and kids. I have been with the same family for three years and it has by far been the best experience of my life, I feel like they are part of my family! I love the connection you can make with people, in such short time!

One interesting fact about yourself: I can wiggle my ears!

If you could have dinner with one person, alive or dead, who would it be and why?

I would have dinner with Tina Fey because not only is she a hilarious

woman, but she’s incredibly intelligent as well. After reading her book

Bossy Pants, I honestly felt like I knew her, so it’d be like friends catching

up! Nothing beats laughter.

It is a lazy Sunday, how would you spend your day?

I’ll get up late, then make a big brunch of French toast or scrambled eggs.

Then I’ll spend the day in my comfy bed reading and watching movies. If

it’s nice out I’ll go to a park or ride my bike!

What is the funniest comment you have heard from a child

while working for SMS?

“One time I farted and it lasted 30 minutes” Kids and their sense of time is

priceless! The best part of this was that it was a little girl!

When you were a kid growing up, what did you want to be?

I wanted to be an actress or a lawyer…the two things I still want to be

when I grow up!

If you were stranded on a desert island, and could pick three

items, what would they be?

I would bring my ipod (can’t live without music!), my favorite book (The

Great Gatsby) and a pen (to write with…if I could bring 4 things the last

thing would be paper!)

What is the funniest memory from your childhood babysitter?

My babysitter wasn’t married, so I would ask random men if they’d be

her husband. Clearly I was not afraid to talk to strangers (I had a very

important reason to!) so it’s a good thing she was with me. Thankfully she

looks back on it and laughs, and it’s probably a good thing she didn’t end

up marrying any of the guys picked out for her by a five year old!

What has been your most memorable experience while

working with SMS?

It was the week before Mother’s Day last year, so I had the idea to make

Mother’s Day cards with the kids. It was a fun way to combine arts and

crafts with doing something kind for another person. The girls were so

excited and proud of their cards, and had me put them in special places in

their rooms so their mom would be surprised. It was great to hear the girls

talk about their mom, and helped me get to know the family better. When

I came back around Halloween, they asked if we could make Halloween

cards for each other! I still have them hanging in my room!

One interesting fact about yourself:

My fingers are double jointed.  They lock up when I work with my hands a lot.

If you could have dinner with one person, alive or dead, who would it be and why? 

 Suzanne Collins, the author of the Hunger Games trilogy.  I read all three books in just over one week.  One of my goals is to write a book and I would love to get advice from her and find out where her inspiration came from.  She is a literary genius!

It is a lazy Sunday, how would you spend your day?

I would stay in sweats all day, have over some friends, watch a movie and cook up a new recipe. 

What is the funniest comment you have heard from a child

while working for SMS?

While on the toilet: “it will be a while, I have a lot more poo to make, I’ll call you when I’m done.” –From a 3 year old

When you were a kid growing up, what did you want to be?

An Optometrist

If you were stranded on a desert island, and could pick three

items, what would they be?

1. Burt’s Bees Chapstick, my one addiction 2. My Nook, so I’d always be entertained 3. A lighter, to survive/signal for help

What is the funniest memory from your childhood babysitter?

Hiding from her so she would panic that I ran away. 

What has been your most memorable experience while

working with SMS? 

 I have a lot of great memories, but my favorites are when the kids ask for hugs before bed or when I leave. It makes me feel like I’m doing my job well.

One interesting fact about yourself: At one point in high school I was the fastest reader in the state of Ohio. Cool!

If you could have dinner with one person, alive or dead, who

would it be and why?

Tina Fey…it would be the funniest dinner ever!

It is a lazy Sunday, how would you spend your day?

I would spend it curled up with lots of snacks and a criminal minds marathon…I love trying to figure out the mysteries.

What is the funniest comment you have heard from a child

while working for SMS?

One of the funniest/cutest comments was when the children and I were discussing what they wanted to be when they grew up and one little boy told me he couldn’t wait to be a big train. He was so excited that I didn’t have the heart to tell him little boys don’t turn into trains so I told him he would be an awesome one some day!

When you were a kid growing up, what did you want to be?

I told everyone I wanted to be a firefighter, a ballerina, and a mom with earrings.

If you were stranded on a desert island, and could pick three

items, what would they be?

If I had my sunglasses, a beach chair, and a good book I’d be set!

What is the funniest memory from your childhood babysitter?

I have two older brothers who usually watched me, so getting a babysitter that was a girl was such a treat! I would be so excited to have a girl to play with that I would set up stations of all my toys so that we could play Barbies, and house, and dolls, and paint nails etc. I always felt like I had to squeeze every single girly activity in to make the most of my time!

What has been your most memorable experience while

working with SMS?

There was one family that I sat for several times in a row. The children were so smart and loved to tell me all about dinosaurs. When I would tuck them into bed at night, the little girl would get very quiet and very serious. I would ask her what she was thinking about and it was always the same problem- she couldn’t understand why all the dinosaurs were extinct. She would talk me through the reasons why T-Rex should still be alive. She was so earnest and genuinely concerned about the dinosaurs. It may have been one of the coolest conversations I have had while babysitting. She is going to grow up to be one amazing scientist!

As a child, I learned to say the alphabet backwards before I learned to say it correctly.


If you could have dinner with one person, alive or dead, who
would it be and why? 

I would love to have dinner with Sutton Foster. For those of you who have no clue who this is, Sutton has been in countless Broadway plays and musicals, including Annie, Shrek, and most recently, Anything Goes. She is someone who has earned her success and I think it would be great to just hear her whole story.


It is a lazy Sunday, how would you spend your day?
Napping, enjoying a good book, or watching countless hours of HGTV (I am in love with that channel!)

When you were a kid growing up, what did you want to be?
As I was growing up, I have always wanted to be a teacher. The specific grade level and content area has changed over the years, but the career itself has stuck!

If you were stranded on a desert island, and could pick three
items, what would they be?
A book to pass the time, my planner because I would go crazy without it, and a raft so I could float around in the water


What is the funniest memory from your childhood babysitter?
When I was 7 my sister and I did my babysitter’s hair and make-up. Looking back we did a horrible job, but she left our house with her hair and make-up done by us. She was so nice to have not made us feel like we did a bad job!

What has been your most memorable experience while
working with SMS?
Every experience is memorable, but the one I love the most is a time when I was sitting for a family all day, so we spent the day at the park, getting ice cream, and at the pool. That night we came home, built a pillow fort and had a movie night. It was not only a great day for the kids but for me too :)

One interesting fact about yourself: 

I was the first freshman at my high school to ever make varsity cheerleading.

If you could have dinner with one person, alive or dead, who

would it be and why?

This is easy…JUSTIN BIEBER!! I seriously have an obsession with this kid. I have all his music on my itunes, and a wall in my room dedicated to posters of him. I even went to his concert with my little sister, and cried (Kind of pathetic, I know). He is such an inspiration to people all over, I would love to just meet him, get to know him and of course sing one of his songs with him.

It is a lazy Sunday, how would you spend your day?

I absolutely love my sleep, so spending a lazy Sunday would consist of staying in my bed all day not having to worry about anything!

When you were a kid growing up, what did you want to be?

I have always had this dream of becoming a nurse one day, because I have always had such a caring personality. But on the other hand I always wanted to be famous and sing on a stage with millions of people watching me.  I was always singing and dancing as a child! I cannot tell you how many videos my family has of me jamming out to some song.

If you were stranded on a desert island, and could pick threeitems, what would they be?

What is the funniest memory from your childhood babysitter?

When I was a little bit older and knew Santa wasn’t real my brother and I would always convince our babysitter to help us look for the presents our parents would hide in one closet in the basement.  We would search forever for the key that kept the door locked.  I feel bad because our babysitter didn’t want to do it, but we made her feel obligated to help us search.

What has been your most memorable experience while working with SMS?

One family I have babysat for, their dad graduated from the same high school that I and also my mom graduated from. My mom actually knows the girls fathers brother, and after telling the girls they both proceeded to say that I was basically a part of their family. It was absolutely adorable, and I felt so welcomed and loved!

Meet Danielle!

Week 3

Name: Danielle Frederick

Hometown: Alexandria, Ohio.

Age: 21.

Major: Exercise Science.

Favorite Color : Green.

Favorite Candy: Peanut M&M's.

One interesting fact about yourself: 

I once won a 60 second Shopping Spree through Build-a-Bear Workshop up at Easton Town Center. It was when the store first opened  and I'll never forget getting to run through the store for 60 seconds grabbing as many stuffed animals as I could!

If you could have dinner with one person, alive or dead, who would it be and why?  

That's a tough one, but I would probably say Corrie Ten Boom. Her story  amazes me and “The Hiding Place” has always been one of my favorite books about her life story. Her and her families perseverance, bravery and faith inspire me.

It is a lazy Sunday, how would you spend your day? 

Relaxing, football, family, maybe a nap and a good book :)
 

What is the funniest comment you have heard from a child while working for SMS? 

There are so many! But one of the sweetest was when a 3 year old boy asked me while we were watching a movie if he could hold my hand , just like a perfect little gentleman. It was so cute and sweet.
 

When you were a kid growing up, what did you want to be? 

I wanted to be a lot of things, but one thing was I wanted to be a Veterinarian because I thought it just meant I could play with animals all day long. Once I found out you had to give the animals shots, and other things I quickly changed my mind! 

If you were stranded on a desert island, and could pick three items, what would they be? 

Kindle, Sunscreen, and chapstick. 

What is the funniest memory from your childhood babysitter? 

My older brothers were watching me one day and I was getting in the middle of a basketball game they were playing with each other. So, they “tied” me to the basketball pole with  a jump rope and convinced me it was some kind of game. When my parents came home my brothers were playing basketball uninterrupted and I was having a blast too thinking I was a part of their game.

What has been your most memorable experience while working with SMS? 

There are so many! But I would say it's probably a toss up between doing a part of the workout DVD “Insanity” with two kids I was babysitting (definitely a memorable moment and good workout!) or when a little girl I was babysitting asked for “one-thousand” kisses on the cheek before going to sleep. (She was probably just stalling her bedtime, but it was sweet!).
